Connectivity and Service Issues
On Tuesday May 19 evening (21:45) alarms indicated a number of network events underway. Troubleshooting commenced which identified elements in Dunedin Exchange to review further. At approximately 23:30 core elements were restarted and full connectivity returned.
Time was then spent going over the core network checking connecitivty and services. We expect to update this page later in the day with any additional information.
Outages will happen at times. We use them all to review events leading up to them, their resolution and what can be done to prevent in the future. Our apologies for the interruption in service. Please do get in touch if there are any issues.
Update Tuesday 26 May Some further reviews were undertaken and as a result core network settings upstream from Earthlight Dunedin were adjusted. Previously some default values were in use which had settled on a lower-than-ideal values Adjustment work was done on Sunday and we have seen no further issues. There has also been some boost in performance which is always welcome, although the core/transit/handovers are not stressed.
There may be further work carried out arising from this event. It may be decided to apply updates to core equipment. If this happens we will notify on this page and also by way of a planned maintenance window in the wee small hours.
In the meantime please make contact if you have any issues.
